Michigan Coalition for Progress

Michigan Coalition for Progress

We are an independent progressive voice for the people of Michigan dedicated to holding our elected political leaders accountable and moving Michigan forward. Join us today.

About Us

Founded in 2006 in Kalamazoo, the Michigan Coalition for Progress is an independent progressive voice, over 40,000 members strong, dedicated to holding our elected political leaders accountable. We are a positive, issue-based group, bringing people together to elect progressive leaders who are committed to bringing the change we need to Michigan.

It's time to put Michigan first. For way too long, conservative Republicans in the state legislature have stood in the way of the change we need to move Michigan forward. We need to hold our leadership accountable. By empowering citizens to play an active role in the legislative process, we can help ensure that our leaders in Lansing uphold their commitment to bringing positive change to Michigan.

The Michigan Coalition for Progress is leveling the playing field, because for too long, Lansing has been inundated with right-wing and special interest dollars. Our funding is transparent and a matter of public record.

Help us in our fight to move Michigan forward by joining our coalition, or by donating today.

Support Basic Healthcare for Women

Submitted by Caleb on 2 September 2009 - 10:38am.

Next week, it is expected that a package of bills will be considered in the House Judiciary Committee to prevent unintended pregnancies, create contraceptive equity, ensure medically accurate abstinence education and ensure access to emergency contraception.

The “Prevention First” legislation (HB 5155-HB 5165) will reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and slow the spread of STDs such as HIV.

Contact your Representative and ask him or her to get to work on improving reproductive health care, while maintaining a women’s right to privacy.

Re-Energize Michigan!

Submitted by Caleb on 5 August 2009 - 11:05am.

Recently, a coalition of legislators, business leaders and clean energy advocates announced an innovative plan to make Michigan a leader in alternative energy production by offering incentives for renewable energy development and manufacturing, energy efficiency and alternative energy production.

We need your help turning this legislation into law.

Investing in clean energy is a critical step in strengthening the Michigan economy. It is imperative that Michigan takes the lead on alternative energy technologies that will create thousands of new jobs in the wind, solar and construction fields for our skilled workers.

Join the Coalition for Progress, Clean Water Action, Progress Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters and other Michigan-based organizations and tell our legislature that you support the “Re-Energize Michigan!” proposal.
